Switch 2's new "Handheld Mode Boost" can run original Switch games at 1080p

Nintendo has released a system update for the Switch 2 that introduces a new 'Handheld Mode Boost' feature. This optional setting allows original Nintendo Switch games to run at their docked-mode resolution (1080p) and graphical settings while the console is in handheld mode, fixing a key visual downgrade issue. It addresses the problem of 720p games being stretched on the Switch 2's native 1080p screen.

Background

The Nintendo Switch 2 is the successor to the highly popular Nintendo Switch hybrid console. A key feature is its backward compatibility, allowing it to play the vast library of original Switch games.
