World ID wants you to put a cryptographically unique human identity behind your AI agents

World ID has launched Agent Kit, a beta tool that allows users to cryptographically link their verified human identity to AI agents. This aims to solve the problem of Sybil attacks by enabling websites to distinguish between legitimate AI assistants and malicious bots. The system builds on World ID's existing iris-scanning technology which has already verified 18 million users globally.

Background

As AI agents become more prevalent, they create challenges for online services facing automated requests that resemble DDoS attacks. Sybil attacks, where one entity creates multiple fake identities, are a particular concern in decentralized systems.
