Speech translation in Google Meet is now rolling out to mobile devices

Google Meet's speech translation feature is now rolling out to mobile devices, allowing real-time translation between six languages with voice imitation. The feature is still in early alpha stage and currently supports English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Italian. Initial testing shows it works between web browsers but has some issues on mobile devices.

Background

Real-time speech translation has been a long-standing goal in communication technology, with major tech companies developing solutions to break down language barriers in virtual meetings.
