SLAM: s6/synit based NixOS

SLAM is a minimalist Nix-based operating system framework that offers flexible init system and service manager options, including s6 and Synit. It supports both BIOS and UEFI booting via Limine and provides modular service management, though it's positioned as a research platform rather than a production OS. The project uses the non-open Peer Production License, restricting usage to individuals, non-commercial entities, and worker cooperatives.

Background

NixOS is a Linux distribution built on the Nix package manager, known for its declarative system configuration and reproducible builds. There has been growing interest in alternative init systems and service managers as alternatives to systemd.
