The Spritely Institute has developed Mandy, a prototype implementing the ActivityPub protocol on top of Goblins, an actor model system. This work bridges the gap between ActivityPub's actor-based design and Goblins' implementation, potentially enabling new federated social web applications. The project demonstrates how Goblins actors can be made available over HTTP, which is essential for ActivityPub compatibility.
Background
ActivityPub is a W3C-standardized protocol that powers the Fediverse, enabling different social media platforms to interoperate. Goblins is an implementation of the actor model for distributed programming, which aligns well with ActivityPub's design principles.
