Comprehensive Response to Bambu's AGPLv3 Violations

The Software Freedom Conservancy (SFC) has confirmed two AGPLv3 license violations by Bambu Lab regarding their 3D printing software. The violations involve failure to provide complete source code for their modified version of PrusaSlicer (Bambu Studio) and non-compliance with AGPLv3 requirements for their networking library. SFC is launching a multi-pronged initiative to address these violations while advocating for software right-to-repair in the 3D printing industry.

Background

The AGPLv3 is a strong copyleft license that requires companies to provide source code when they modify and distribute software covered by the license. The 3D printing industry has seen increasing tension between open source principles and proprietary business models, particularly regarding software that controls the printing process.
