Nvidia kills Windows XP-era Control Panel "after 20 years of dedicated service"

Nvidia is phasing out its legacy Control Panel, which has been a staple since 2006, in favor of the modern Nvidia app. The new driver version 610.47 will no longer install the old Control Panel by default, though it remains available as a separate download for those who need it. Professional GPU users will continue to have access to the Control Panel through workstation drivers for now.

Background

The Nvidia Control Panel has been a core component for GPU configuration since the Windows XP era, providing users with settings management for graphics cards. The transition to the new Nvidia app represents a significant shift in how users interact with their GPU settings.
