NASA sure seems to be asking an awful lot of private space stations

NASA has released a draft Request for Proposals (RFP) clarifying expectations for private companies developing commercial space stations to replace the ISS by 2030. This move follows years of delays caused by congressional funding issues and shifting regulatory directives, aiming to prevent a gap in US human presence in low-Earth orbit.

Background

The International Space Station is scheduled for decommissioning around 2030, prompting NASA to transition to commercially operated platforms. Several companies, including Axiom Space, have received prior funding to develop concepts for these next-generation stations.
