Uber is partnering with and investing in drone delivery company Zipline, targeting one million daily deliveries by 2029. Zipline drones will begin Uber Eats deliveries by the end of 2026, starting in existing markets before expanding to dozens of U.S. cities. This continues Uber's strategy of investing heavily in autonomous delivery partners rather than building in-house solutions.
Background
Uber has been pivoting from in-house autonomous vehicle development to a partnership-heavy strategy, investing over $10 billion in dozens of AV providers since shutting down its own Elevate and autonomous vehicle programs.
