Uber partners with Zipline on Eats drone deliveries

Uber is partnering with drone company Zipline to launch airborne Uber Eats deliveries starting in Dallas-Fort Worth, with plans to scale to one million daily deliveries by 2029. The company is also making a strategic investment in Zipline, which has operated drone deliveries in Texas since 2025. The move comes as competitors ramp up drone delivery efforts amid easing government regulations.

Background

Drone delivery has emerged as a competitive frontier in the food delivery industry, with companies like Amazon, Google/Wing, and UPS testing autonomous aerial logistics. Regulatory frameworks in the US have gradually expanded commercial drone operations, enabling longer-range and more frequent deliveries.
