mRNA cancer vaccine succeeded in Phase 3 melanoma trial, Moderna and Merck say

Moderna and Merck announced their Phase 3 trial success for an individualized mRNA cancer vaccine (mRNA-4157/intismeran) targeting melanoma mutations. The combination of the mRNA vaccine with Keytruda significantly extended recurrence-free survival and distant metastasis-free survival in 1,137 patients. This marks a major milestone for both mRNA vaccines and personalized cancer therapies.

Background

Personalized mRNA cancer vaccines are designed to target a patient's unique tumor mutations, representing a major frontier in immuno-oncology. Previous Phase 2 results had already shown promise, making this Phase 3 confirmation highly significant.
