SondeHub began in 2018 as a joke domain redirecting to Habhub, but evolved into a critical infrastructure for tracking weather balloon radiosonde data. What started as an AWS learning project to handle increasing data loads eventually became so vital that government agencies began requesting radiosonde data for official purposes.
Background
SondeHub is an open-source platform for tracking radiosonde data from weather balloons worldwide, built by the amateur high-altitude ballooning community. It has grown to become one of the primary sources for open radiosonde data used by researchers and governments alike.
