The iconic T-38 jets flown by astronauts just got a spiffy new look

NASA has unveiled a new Artemis-themed livery on one of its T-38 Talon astronaut training jets, marking the first time in decades the iconic fleet received a fresh paint scheme. The black-and-white design with blue and red stripes commemorates the Artemis program's goal of returning astronauts to the Moon, featuring the Artemis logo and a Moon graphic on the fuselage.

Background

NASA has operated a fleet of 14 T-38 Talon supersonic trainer jets since 1962, using them to maintain astronaut flight proficiency. The Artemis program aims to return humans to the Moon for the first time since Apollo 17 in 1972.
