A federal judge ruled that the Trump administration's blacklisting of Anthropic was illegal retaliation violating the First Amendment, after the company refused to remove restrictions on its AI technology being used for lethal autonomous warfare and mass surveillance. Judge Rita Lin vacated the government directives banning federal agencies and defense contractors from using Anthropic's products, calling the national security justification insufficient.
