NASA's next "great observatory" begins mission to widen our view of the Universe

NASA launches the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, designed as the next Great Observatory to study dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astronomy. The telescope's wide-field camera will capture data so massive that displaying a single survey image would require over 500,000 4K TVs.

Background

The Roman Space Telescope is NASA's flagship space observatory after Hubble and James Webb, designed to tackle mysteries of dark energy and routinely detect exoplanets via gravitational microlensing.
