Asahi Linux has officially merged M3 series SoC support into its installer, bringing Linux to M3 Macs with most features working including webcam, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB, and hardware-accelerated AV1 video decoding. GPU acceleration and full DCP support remain unimplemented, with sleep and HDMI disabled as known limitations. The team expects to remove the Expert mode gate by the Fedora 45 beta release.
Background
Asahi Linux is a community-driven project porting Linux to Apple Silicon Macs, initially supporting M1 and later M2 series chips. This marks the continuation of their effort to bring full Linux support to Apple's ARM-based Mac lineup.
