GEM for Linux is an open-source project that ports the classic GEM (Graphical Environment Manager) desktop environment to Linux, offering windows, menus, dialogs, a terminal, calculator, and clock. It supports display via a Rasta viewer or native Linux framebuffer, and includes a 68K emulator (Musashi) for running legacy applications.
Background
GEM was the original graphical user interface for Atari ST computers in the 1980s-90s. This project revives that classic desktop experience on modern Linux systems.
