Blizzard has announced that StarCraft will return in 2030 as an open-world shooter, reviving the long-dormant concept first attempted with the canceled StarCraft: Ghost in 2002. The reveal came at BlizzCon via VP Dan Hay, who showcased a cinematic trailer for the upcoming title.
Background
StarCraft: Ghost was originally announced in 2002 as a third-person stealth shooter set in the StarCraft universe, but was cancelled in 2014 after over a decade in development hell. Blizzard has not released a mainline StarCraft title since 2010's StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.
