Squalk: an old-school forum engine built on Nostr (NIP-29 groups, NIP-7D threads)

Squalk is an open-source forum engine built on Nostr that recreates classic asynchronous threaded discussions using NIP-29 groups and NIP-7D events. It uses a SvelteKit codebase supporting both static SPA and server-rendered modes, with djot rendering and a stale-while-revalidate cache for relay queries.

Background

Nostr is a decentralized social protocol gaining traction in privacy-focused communities, with various clients and tools being built on top of it. Forum-style asynchronous discussion remains a niche compared to real-time chat platforms.
