A developer has successfully emulated Apple's abandoned Copland OS (build D11E4 from June 1996) in a web browser using an improved DingusPPC emulator with WebAssembly. The project includes 11 patches needed to unlock Copland, and users can run applications like GXSlidemaster and Eric's Solitaire directly in the browser.
Background
Apple Copland was a microkernel-based operating system project announced in the mid-1990s intended to replace System 7, but was cancelled in 1997. Apple instead acquired NeXT and its OpenStep technology, which became the foundation of Mac OS X.
