Microsoft announces that WSL containers are now generally available, allowing developers to directly build, run, and deploy Linux containers on Windows. The release includes a new CLI (wslc.exe) with a container.exe alias for familiar container commands, as well as a programmatic API for integrating container workflows into native Windows applications.
Background
Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) has become a popular way for developers to run Linux environments on Windows. Microsoft has been progressively expanding WSL's capabilities, including GPU support and deeper Linux integration.
