Vessev built an electric ferry that almost flies

Vessev showcased its VS-9 electric hydrofoil ferry during a demo ride in New York's East River. The 30-foot catamaran uses computer-controlled underwater foils to lift the hull above water, delivering a smooth, sports-car-like ride with minimal wake. Vessev also designs its own in-house electric motor and can raise the foils for shallow-water docking.

Background

Hydrofoil technology has existed for decades but has seen renewed interest as a sustainable propulsion method for water transport. Vessev is a startup focused on commercializing electric hydrofoil ferries for urban and short-distance water transit.
