We ported the original Doom to SQL

CedarDB engineer Lukas Vogel ported the original 1993 Doom game logic and BSP-based renderer entirely to SQL, achieving 35 FPS gameplay with multiplayer support. Running inside CedarDB's cloud infrastructure, players can join via browser-based SQL queries while waiting in queue, treating the database as both runtime and lobby.

Background

Doom uses BSP trees for correct depth ordering of textures and arbitrary wall angles, unlike Wolfenstein 3D's simpler raycasting approach. Vogel previously created DOOMQL in ASCII art; this is the full renderer implementation in SQL.
