A minimal kernel in Swift, running in QEMU

A developer experiments with writing a minimal kernel in Swift using Embedded Swift and running it on QEMU, aiming to understand bare-metal programming. The project uses Swift 6.4 with experimental Embedded feature enabled, and the kernel currently prints a message via QEMU before entering an infinite loop. A community update notes that the @c Swift attribute should replace @_cdecl for formalizing C-interfaced functions.

Background

Embedded Swift is an experimental subset of Swift designed for environments without an OS or standard library. Writing a bare-metal kernel requires understanding low-level hardware interaction, memory management, and cross-compilation for target architectures.
