Running RAG with a (small) language model in the browser

The article describes a fully client-side RAG implementation where semantic search and a small language model (25-360M parameters) run entirely in the browser via WebGPU, requiring no server or API keys. The system retrieves relevant passages from a blog and uses models like Qwen3-0.6B or SmolLM2-360M to generate concise answers locally.

Background

MicroLLM Lab enables running small language models directly in the browser on user hardware. This article extends that capability to a full RAG pipeline for personal blog querying.
