eBay has implemented restrictions on listings for radio equipment to comply with regulations, but has carved out an exemption for ham-band-only gear that transmits exclusively on amateur radio frequencies. The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) advocated for this exemption to protect the secondhand market for amateur radio equipment.
Background
eBay has faced pressure to restrict sale of equipment capable of transmitting on illegal frequencies. The ARRL, representing amateur radio operators, worked to ensure that equipment designed solely for ham use remains available on the platform.
