SpaceX plans to attempt catching Starship and its Super Heavy booster for the first time next month, aiming to fully recover the orbital launch system — a historic first if successful. Elon Musk called it a 'profound technology milestone in the history of civilization consciousness,' while acknowledging success is not guaranteed but more likely than not on the next flight.
Background
SpaceX has been developing Starship as a fully reusable super-heavy-lift launch vehicle, with previous attempts focused on booster recovery via landing legs or the ocean. This proposed catch attempt represents a significant step toward complete reusability for both stages.
