Ford Fathom will be the cheapest American EV capable of powering a house

Ford is introducing V2X (vehicle-to-everything) capability in its new Fathom EV, making it the most affordable American EV capable of powering a home or feeding energy back to the grid. The automaker is also rolling out two new chargers to support this bidirectional charging technology.

Background

V2X technology allows electric vehicles to act as mobile power stations, feeding electricity back to homes or the grid during peak demand. Ford has previously experimented with V2L (vehicle-to-load) features in models like the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning.
