Meta will end OS updates for Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets by March 2027, continuing only security patches and bug fixes through the end of that year. The company is positioning Quest 3 and 3S as its new VR gaming baseline ahead of its upcoming VR Glasses launch in spring 2027.
Background
Meta's Quest 2 was one of the most popular VR headsets ever sold, while the Quest Pro targeted enterprise and premium users. Meta is steadily phasing out older hardware to focus on its Quest 3 lineup and upcoming VR Glasses product.
