Developer ends lucrative screensaver deal with Roku because Fox bought it

Artist Jim Sachs ended his decade-long licensing deal with Roku after Fox acquired the streaming platform, removing the popular ad-free Aquatic Life screensaver by December 1. Sachs cited Fox News' controversial tone as his reason for not wanting to be part of the Fox ecosystem. Roku will replace it with the ad-supported Roku City screensaver.

Background

Fox recently completed its acquisition of Roku, one of the largest streaming platforms in the US. This deal has raised concerns among content creators about editorial alignment and brand compatibility.
