Starfish Space is launching its first Otter spacecraft on a Falcon 9 Transporter mission this fall, seven years after the company's founding. The 350 kg vehicle will serve as a NASA demonstration mission named SSPICY, focusing on in-orbit servicing, inspection, and debris deorbiting capabilities for low-Earth orbit sustainability.
Background
Starfish Space was co-founded in 2019 by former Blue Origin engineers with a focus on in-space servicing and orbital sustainability as mega-constellations grow. The OTTER platform is designed for debris removal, satellite inspection, and life extension in low-Earth orbit.
