AMD's record quarter: Data center business doubles, while gaming craters

AMD reported a record Q3 revenue of $13.4 billion with data center business nearly doubling to $8.5 billion, driven by EPYC CPUs and Instinct MI450 GPUs. Q4 guidance of ~$17 billion means AMD could surpass Intel in revenue for the first time ever. Meanwhile, gaming revenue cratered 40% to $773 million.

Background

AMD has been steadily gaining ground in the data center and AI accelerator markets, challenging both Intel and NVIDIA. This quarter marks a potential historic milestone if AMD overtakes Intel in total revenue.
