End-to-end encrypted relays for OCapN

Spritely Institute announces a new federated end-to-end encrypted relay for OCapN, funded by an NLnet grant. The upgrade replaces the previous "prelay" which lacked E2EE, making it safe for real-world use. The release also includes a formal OCapN group specification to enable broader interoperability.

Background

OCapN (Object Capabilities over Networks) is a capability-based networking protocol that enables secure peer-to-peer communication. Goblins is a Scheme implementation that uses OCapN, and Hoot is a Scheme-to-WebAssembly compiler being developed alongside it.
