Google is launching its first Googlebooks, a new line of Android-powered premium laptops starting at $899 on October 4. Five models from established Chromebook OEMs are available for preorder, featuring Snapdragon X Elite or Intel Core Ultra Series 3 chips, OLED screens, and fanless designs with up to 32GB RAM upgrades.

Google has long struggled to compete in the premium laptop market despite Chromebook success in the budget segment. This marks Google's first attempt at a premium Android-native computing platform beyond phones and tablets.
