A FOSDEM 2026 talk will showcase hacking the Cidco MailStation, likely the last Z80 computer ever designed in 1999. The presentation will demonstrate how to run custom software on this email-focused device and encourage community documentation and firmware development. The speaker has already created emulators and tools to support this retrocomputing effort.
Background
The Z80 was a popular 8-bit processor in 1980s home computers, but was largely replaced by 16/32-bit CPUs. The Cidco MailStation (1999) was one of the last new computers built around this architecture.
