Mold 3.0.0 Released

Mold 3.0.0 is the first major release of the Rust reimplementation of the high-speed linker, previously written in C++. It aims to close compatibility gaps with GNU ld and paves the way for adoption as the default linker in Linux distributions. The Rust rewrite also improves safety by preventing out-of-bounds memory reads on corrupted input files.

Background

Mold is an open-source high-speed linker originally written by Rui Ueyama in C++, known for significantly faster linking times compared to GNU ld and LLD. The project has been actively used in performance-critical build environments.
