Pentagon IG refuses to investigate Starlink/Starshield slowdown in Ukraine

The Pentagon Inspector General declined a bipartisan congressional request to investigate temporary speed restrictions imposed on Ukraine's military use of SpaceX's Starlink and Starshield services. Ukrainian forces reported drone connectivity losses above 161 km/h, but the limit was lifted after approximately 10 days. The IG referred the matter to the Air Force and Space Force instead.

Background

SpaceX's Starlink military services (Starshield) have become critical infrastructure for Ukraine's defense operations since Russia's invasion. The US government oversees the deployment and rules of engagement for these systems in the conflict zone.
