Someone got Doom in an SQL database

Lukas Vogel ported Doom to run on CedarDB, using 1,300 lines of SQL across 89 common table expressions to render full-color 640×480 frames at 35 fps. The project leverages the game's BSP tree structure by translating it into ordered SQL queries for sorting and culling, a significant improvement over his earlier grayscale DoomQL attempt.

Background

This is a follow-up to Lukas Vogel's 2025 DoomQL project that aimed to create a multiplayer Doom-like game entirely in SQL but only managed Wolfenstein 3D-style ASCII graphics. The latest effort pushes further by fully porting Doom's rendering pipeline into relational database operations.
