The major labels propose rules to keep AI slop off the charts

Major record labels Universal Music Group, Sony Music, and Warner Music Group have proposed rules that would bar AI-generated songs from international music charts unless they meet specific criteria requiring the work to be 'substantially human.' The proposal goes beyond a previous RIAA-backed labeling initiative that would have only required standardized disclosure labels for AI-generated and AI-assisted music.

Background

AI-generated music has surged in popularity, with AI-created tracks appearing on streaming platforms and even charting, raising concerns among artists and labels about authenticity and copyright.
